We are pleased to present 20 photographs of Ravi Kumar Kashi.
Ravi is primarily a prolific artist, who has shot these photographs during his travels around the world. He has amazing talent to spot an abstract art composition in everyday sights like a wall, a pavement, a door, graffiti, or just about anything. He finds art in mundane things and places, which we usually would not look at or notice. They are not traditional artistic photographs, depicting people, architecture, nature etc. They are like an abstract painting, with a strong sense of colour and composition. One look at his photograph and you are intrigued with curiosity to know what is the story behind it.
Ravikumar Kashi was born in Bangalore in 1968. He completed his B.F.A. in painting from College of Fine Arts, Bangalore in 1998; M.F.A. in printmaking from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 1990; and M.A. in English from Mysore University, in 1995. He learnt handmade papermaking from Glasgow School of Art, U.K. He also learnt Hanji, traditional Korean papermaking, from Jang Ji Bang, Korea.
Since 1991 his works have been showcased in several solo shows, group shows, curated shows, and museum shows, in India; New York, New Jersey, Palo Alto, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Berkeley and Miami in U.S.A. In Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Yokohama, Burma, Dhaka, Sri Lanka, Beijing and Shanghai in Asia; and also in Munich, Toronto, Dubai and Perth. He lives and works in Bangalore.
This collection of 20 prints, are curated from about 600 photographs. They are printed on 310 gsm German, 100% cotton, acid free, archival paper in size 26” x 36”, and printed with archival inks. This would give these prints a guaranteed minimum life of 100 years.
They are being released in a limited edition of only 10, numbered and hand-signed by the artist and accompanied by a "Certificate of Authenticity".
